What We Believe
We believe in the one God who is in nature three persons, the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ the Son is eternally one with God, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe and to become man was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, being both fully human and fully God. The Holy Spirit is eternally one with the Father and Son yet He is sent by Them to achieve the Divine purpose in the world and in the church.
We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the infallible Word of God. They were written by holy men of God inspired by the Holy Spirit and have supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
We believe that man was made in God’s image but his nature was corrupted when he fell out of fellowship with God. As a consequence, all men are spiritually dead under Satan’s dominion and control and subject to God’s wrath and condemnation. Therefore, apart from God’s grace, man is helpless and hopeless.
We believe that in order to redeem mankind from the guilt, penalty and power of sin, Jesus Christ became man and died a sacrificial death as our representative substitute. By His resurrection, God’s acceptance of His atoning death was demonstrated. This atonement is sufficient for the whole world but effective only in those who receive it. The sinner is justified and reconciled to God solely through God’s grace, not through any personal merit.
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is necessary for the acceptance of God’s provision of salvation, by convicting men of sinfulness and leading them to spiritual birth as God’s children. The Holy Spirit leads us in all truth and our relationship with God and bestows gifts for effective service and graces for holy living.
We believe that the universal Church of God is the body of regenerate people whom God has separated from the world through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The church takes local form wherever groups unite for fellowship, worship and service in accordance with spiritual principles. All believers are called to a priestly ministry to witnessing and some to positions of leadership and special ministries following New Testament practice.
We believe that baptism is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a public declaration of a person’s faith and in accordance with New Testament Scripture it should administered only by total immersion.
We believe that the Lord’s supper is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ instituted by Him to be celebrated by believers in Christ until the end of the age. It commemorates and declares our thanks for the Lord’s substitutionary death.
We believe that at the end of this age Jesus Christ will return visibly to earth in His glory and there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous. God has appointed a judgement day when all men will be judged; those judged righteous will receive their reward and dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord in their resurrected and glorified bodies. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment.
