A brief history.... Tweed Coast Community Church Op Shop commenced in Ace Plaza in August 1995. Margaret Tavener was the first Op Shop Manager and brought not only retail experience but many of her friends as the first volunteers. Later Pat Barter and Lyn Cahill continued to bring the same passionate and dedicated leadership as managers.
From the beginning, the Op Shop had a rapid turnover policy with items sorted carefully to sell only quality items at bargain prices. Patronage grew strongly by word of mouth. Support from the community has been such that there has never been a shortage of stock for sale and many volunteers have given faithfully of their time over many years.
The Op Shop moved to the new premises at the Community Centre in February 1997 and in doing so never looked back except with appreciation of all God had done. The more relaxed parking was a great advantage and the location off the busy Coast Road was soon discovered by locals. In more recent years it has contributed towards Christian ministries from the centre which served the community.
