A good question is as good as a good answer and our new sermon series "Who is this God anyway?" does both. This Questions series will help you and your friends and family dialogue about the deeper meaning of life, while challenging your faith and expanding your perspective. Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” The Hebrew word for “fear”--Yir’ah’—means “to shrink back in awe and lean forward in wonder.” Someone once said that this 'Yir'ah is like the first time they visited the Grand Canyon and were so captured by its beauty that they instinctively leaned forward to get a better view, and instantly leaned back to keep from falling into it. That’s Yir’ah. This verse also says that an important first step in any faith adventure is seeing God for who He really is. The reverse is also true: Your first steps in acquiring knowledge are the beginning of your deepening respect and reverence for God. In short, expect your sense of awe and wonder for God to grow during this adventure. But the wonder is that God knows and cares about you and me. Psalm 139:1- 'O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know me when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search our my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.' God knows all about me- my cares and worries. He knows my future, He sees my tomorrow today, and He knows my faithfulness. But He knows my failures and faults, too, those things that I really want to change and improve. Nothing escapes God's notice. The Skit Guys say it a little differently. Check it out below, and join us each week as we explore some of life's great questions about God.
